Well it's been 5 days since we last posted.... sorry about that. We've spent the last 4 days in London and had a great time exploring it. We went to see Wicked two days ago and we saw Avenue Q yesterday. The ticket prices aren't that bad for shows if you buy them the day of and know where to go, so we found out from a few helpful people on our way.
During the day we spent our time going to museums, monuments, and other objects of intrest around london. Included in these were: Kensington Palace, the Victoria and Albert Museum, Harrods, Hyde Park, the National Galleries, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, the London Eye, Parliament, Covent Gardens, Camden Market, Leicester Square, Trifalgar Square, Nelson's Column, the British Musuem, the Tower of London, the Tower bridge, London Bridge, Temple, Royal Exchequer, the Bank of England, Monument, St. Paul's Cathedral, the Millenium Bridge, the Globe Theatre, the ruins of the temple of Mithros and a bunch of others we probably forgot.
We went on a 7km walking tour the other day, which was really cool because it was free (they work only for tips) and thus they have to be really funny and entertaing. Our tour guide was engaging and made the history of the tour appeal to everyone. However, it did rain the entire time, and our pathetically small umbrella has really seen better days. Apparently, we came to Europe during record rain falls. Go us. It's rained probably 2 out of every 3 days... on the low side.
We found our new favorite food in England though, cornish pasties. It's such an amazing change from french food, where we lived on bread and nutella mostly, and it has MEAT and VEGETABLES, which is really cool. Besides being good, they're the cheapest food here, and since the dollar has such a terrible exchange rate, it's all we can really do to have enough money to eat. An average meal here costs £6-£8. Which is fine, until you double that to get dollars = $12-$16.
Good news is that today it was a beautiful day outside and after going to Camden Market we went to the National Portrait Gallery and to Harrods, which was pretty much gigantic.
We've had a great time in Europe, and we're excited that we made it. But tomorrow our plane leaves and it's time to go home. We assume our families will be as happy to see us as we will to see them.
